1828

Tradition since 1828. Origin: wickerwork from Werra-Weiden. Today, the site includes joineries, carpentry workshops and furniture factories that supply furniture throughout Europe.

1914 – 1933

During the war years, the production of some local companies was switched to hospital bed tables, baking shovels, wooden shoes and cargo gliders. 

1945 – 1950

After the end of the war and with the founding of the GDR, most of the furniture manufacturers were expropriated, i.e. the factories were transferred to public ownership. In 1948, all of these companies with 508 employees were merged to form VEB Südthüringer Möbelwerke, Feldsteinstraße plant. 

1966 – 1975

Chipboard became more and more important compared to wood and veneer. By 1971, all companies that had remained in private hands until then were taken over by the state-owned enterprise. This meant that all the larger joineries, a sawmill and larger furniture factories in the town of Themar were under the umbrella of VEB Südthüringer Möbelwerke. During this time, until 1975, the specialization in bedroom furniture was driven forward, the export share both to socialist (e.g. USSR) and non-socialist countries (FRG, Netherlands, Austria, Saudi Arabia, England) was steadily increased. The factory's logo - Three Firs - became the epitome of quality. 

1976 – 1989

In the period from 1976 to 1989, further production sites outside Themar were added to the plant. The export share to Western Europe rose to approx. 70 %. The number of employees rose to more than 1,000. At the end of the 1970s, a finished goods warehouse with 3,700 m² of storage space was built; today's Halls 31/32. In addition, a new production hall, today's Hall 7, with 3,365 m² of production space was put into operation in 1982. After that, no more major investments were made, so that by 1989 the machinery and the building fabric were very dilapidated and outdated. 

1990 – Today

Two investors from Georgsmarienhütte in Lower Saxony invested courage and capital to continue producing furniture at the Themar site. Production was converted from warehouse production to pure contract manufacturing. Unnecessary buildings were demolished and dilapidated production halls were extensively renovated. Outdated machines were replaced and new, high-performance technology was introduced. Currently, around 130 employees are involved in the production and delivery of youth and baby rooms as well as individual wardrobe ranges for the take-away market, i.e. disassembled, packed in cardboard boxes and ready to assemble using assembly instructions. Sales are handled by efficient sales partners and companies.
